Khalid Mehmud Nasir, GM-HR Master Group of Industries, shared his experience of attainting the SHRM certification through HR Metrics, “SHRM certification demands toil, torment, and tenacity. However, all of it eventually gets converted into a prized treasure when you see it materialized into a coveted certificate that bears your name. I experienced it first-hand and still flooded with the euphoria it brings. Getting certified is just the start of the adventure, and you begin realizing it when the hard-earned learning starts to kick in your daily work.” SHRM certification contains an SHRM Competency Model, HR professionals can use this competency model to increase their organizations’ effectiveness and stimulate growth and development. The SHRM Competency Model is essentially a comprehensive roadmap for HR professionals to develop a strategic mindset that leads to successful business outcomes. Khalid further explained the benefits gained from SHRM, “Every HR person craves for getting a seat at the proverbial table; the decision making management table where corporate strategy takes shape; ‘the Board.’ The SHRM Body of Competencies and Knowledge (BoCK) prepares you to develop and align HR strategy with the business strategy. It enables you to groom yourself as a smart business leader, just not within the HR function, but for the overall organization. If you’re already at the ‘table,’ it will enable you to get more heads to turn towards you.”
